INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL ON GENDER STUDIES

Co-organizers of the international school event are partners of GeSt project: Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), Central European University (Hungary), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University (Morocco), Sultan Moulay Slimane University (Morocco), University of Sousse (Tunisia), Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University (former – Kirovohrad State Pedagogical University) (Ukraine), Nizhyn Mykola Gogol State University, (Ukraine), Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (Ukraine).

The purpose of event is to share experience of teaching, learning and research in the area of interdisciplinary gender studies. During the School professors from Tunisia, Morocco, European and Ukrainian universities delivered lectures and workshops addressing gender issues in partner countries and regions. A special consideration was given to gender identity formation in countries with different traditions, religion, history, the role of gender stereotypes in women’s self-realization. A special focus in the School was placed on the theme of gender in sport since the event was hosted and organized by Higher Institute of Sport and Physical Education (L’Institut Supérieur du Sport et de l’Education Physique de Ksar-Said) at Manouba University. Participants of the School participated in workshops on feminist history and pedagogy. Practical seminars on research methodology in gender studies (autoethnography and biographical research) were delivered.

More than 80 participants were present at the international school event, namely, academicians, teachers, researchers, MA students from Manouba University (Higher Institute of Sport) and Sousse University (students from newly established MA programme in Gender Studies). Presented findings and insights in the field served as the basis for discussions between the international school participants.
