Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, PNU. The history of formation and development of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (PNU) started in January 1940 when, at the request of local authorities, preparation for the opening of Teachers Institute in Stanislav started. PNU is a classical university of Ukraine with the highest level of accreditation. The main aim of PNU is to carry out educational activities by training for 79 specialties, providing cultural and spiritual development of youth, conducting fundamental and applied research that promotes socio-economic development of the region and the country as a whole. University scientists publish their results in the most prestigious international journals. The University has signed a partnership agreement with dozens of leading world universities. One of the directions for achieving this goal is the creation and development the innovative infrastructure of new type that will ensure a harmonious relationship between the sides of triangle: education – research – business. At the university more than 16 thousand students are studying, 86 Doctors of Sciences, Professors, more than half of a thousand of Candidates of Sciences, PhD, Associate Professors are working.

Philosophy Department is a part of the PNU. It has been functioning since 1995. There are the following specialties: “Psychology”, “Philosophy”, “Religion” and “Sociology” for the qualification of Bachelor, Master. There are 5 departments: general and clinical psychology, social psychology, educational and developmental psychology, department of philosophy and sociology, department of religious studies, theology and cultural studies. 77 full-time teachers are working in the Department, among them 7 professors, 70  doctors.

Gender Studios Center been functioning since 2010 in the structure of the Philosophy Department in order to attract scholars and students of the University to implement “Equal Opportunities and Women’s Rights in Ukraine” to further develop research, improving knowledge on gender psychology, sociology and related disciplines, forming a conscious attitude of youth region to gender issues, any imbalance between women and men and to promote the elimination of all forms of discrimination based on sex.
